About Us

Kate Rice, the founder of Stable Secretary, has been a part of the horse industry for 30 years. Kate enjoyed a successful junior career in the 1990s, including wins at Harrisburg, Devon, and other prestigious horse shows in the Junior Hunters and Equitation divisions. She also competed successfully on the Dartmouth Equestrian Team.

After graduating Cum Laude from Dartmouth College with a BA in French and Spanish, Kate worked as a web developer for several years, before earning her Masters of Teaching from Simmons College and teaching French and Spanish. In 2005, she was drawn back into the horse world as an assistant trainer, rider, and manager for top Hunter/Jumper professionals. Kate still freelance teaches and rides in the Boston area.

Kate's experiences in the horse and software industries have encouraged her to create a more efficient and reliable way to manage the numerous records involved in stable operations. She understands the importance of good record keeping in a stable. It contributes to improved health and performance for the horses; better communication with clients, staff, and vendors; and more accurate and efficient invoicing.

By creating Stable Secretary, Kate hopes to eliminate the unnecessary stress, frustration, wasted time, and lost revenue for trainers and barn managers by making it easy and convenient for them to track all of the information for their stables anytime, anywhere.
